GLOCK® original locking blocks are produced employing metal injection molding (MIM), a technology that has benefits, but also includes a few pitfalls. MIM Parts are initially oversized by 20.6%, then sintered down in a mold to final size, leading to dimensional deviations. The part is comprised of a glue that is heated, melts, and then binds metal particles together into a molded casting. If one looks closely at a factory locking block, the casting marks are clearly visible.
Consequently, the Lone Wolf part is an upgrade and superior solution. Here are the reasons why:
- Made of 17-4 stainless steel certified billet (certs are held on file and can be traced back if needed)
- The same material used in aerospace is ideal for high-stress applications like a GLOCK® locking block

- Maximum amount of stress-bearing surfaces because draft angles (required with MIM) are eliminated

- G19 Gen3/4 (current 3-pin guns, 2000 and later, up to early Gen4), but does not fit Gen5
- G23, G32, G38
There are a handful of after-market parts that make the GLOCK® pistol even better than it is already. The Lone Wolf locking block is one of those components.
